Grading for 2nd half of the year:
We are entering the second half of the year and grading standards are changing to prepare students for fourth grade and the EOGs. We are working on students working independently and doing their best on their work in class.
Students will have the opportunity to redo classwork (formative assessment). Students will get an opportunity to redo to master the skill, but it will need to be done in class and not completed at home. Also, redo will be at the discretion of the teacher not at the request of the parent.
Tests (summative assessments) will NOT be allowed to retake. Actual grades will be labeled on their paper. The lowest grade they can receive is a 69%, but we want parents to see actual grade on skill being accessed. Power School will reflect a 69%.
Incomplete assignments will receive a 50% and will be noted in Power School with the letter I. This is at the discretion of the classroom teacher.
Our goal is to prepare your child to become independent learners and promote their personal best in the classroom. We want every child to succeed and enjoy learning.
Thank you,
Third Grade Team
